The Internet of Things (IoT) is fast becoming a reality, connecting People and Things to create a fully connected lifestyle. With the fast deployment of mobile technologies, the world is gearing up for the Internet of Things which will use sensor technologies and wireless connectivity to connect objects that can sense and communicate to us on our mobile devices. These “things” of the real world shall seamlessly integrate into the virtual world, enabling anytime, anywhere connectivity. Things that we have at home, appliances and things in our office, things in our car, and the car itself, the things that we wear or carry around on our person… all of these devices will be inter-connected, part of a vast internet and will also create a semantic web! It is predicted that there will be more than 50 billion devices and objects connected by 2020, particularly including cars and the IoT sensors connected to these Cars. IoT will create a huge impact in multiple sectors, such as home automation, wearables, energy, healthcare, transportation, financial, and government sectors.
We invite people who are passionate and enthusiastic about the potentials and pitfalls of the Internet of Things, those who would like to be an active part of this evolution, to participate in discussion on the Forum for Internet of Things, as the ACM Sacramento Chapter takes off!
Join us and to be part of this movement!
