Sadie St Lawrence
Thursday, September 7, 2017 - 6:00pm

Abstract

If you’ve read through your twitter feed or scrolled through the news in the past year or two, you’ve probably seen a lot of buzz around Big Data, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, and Cognitive Applications. While the future of technology is exciting, Sadie will provide some real-life context to what these terms mean. She will also go in-depth regarding data science, what it is and how to get started in the field, along with explaining how it is changing the business environment and the way we work. By the end of this talk, you should understand why data science is one of the hottest jobs, how it fits in with the larger Big Data and AI revolution, and what you can do to take advantage of this new way of thinking.

We will have an informal interactive panel discussion after the talk moderated by our Chair, Dr Harsh Verma
